Simply Skydive Pro Blade Swoop Competition

Simply Skydive, one of Australia’s
premier skydiving companies has worked in close cooperation with NSW planning
and the Sydney Regatta Centre towards establishing a unique world class
skydiving centre within Australia. After working closely over two years to
undertake this ambitious project they have now opened their newly approved
skydiving facility based at the high profile SIRC venue at Penrith
Lakes.
This quality location is situated at the foot of the Blue
Mountains, only 52km from the Sydney CBD and offers breathtaking views of both
Blue Mountains and Sydney skyline.
The Simply Skydiving vision is for Penrith Lakes to become a
world class adventure sports destination catering for land, water and "air"
based activities to be recognised internationally by the adventure traveller.
Future inclusions to the dropzone itself include a full time
MI8 helicopter, a multi million dollar wind tunnel and state of the art high
tech freefall and canopy training simulators
To celebrate the opening of the new dropzone Simply Skydive
hosted Australia’s first Problade Swoop competition. The competition finals and
$10,00.00 in prize money were presented on Australia day and viewed by thousands
of spectators at the Penrith’s Sydney International Regatta
Centre.
The Simply Skydive Problade swoop was the first competition of its kind to be
presented in Australia. The region’s top parachute pilots ‘swoop’ across the
lake at Sydney International Regatta Centre, chasing the best speed and to be
Australia’s first Problade Swoop Champion. It is a high speed, high performance
parachute landing competition, where ‘canopy pilots’ swoop their parachutes
horizontally through a 75 metre long course of ‘Airblades’ (custom made vertical
wind indicators) at speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour.
Pro Blade Swoop is the formula one of parachuting, showcasing the world’s
best canopy pilots, flying the fastest parachutes skydiving technology has to
offer.
The Simply Skydive Problade Swoop is a stepping stone for pilots competing
against the Americans in the Trans Pacific Pro Blade Series planned for 2003/4.
